Today marked the 118th running of the Boston Marathon, and a handful of Shreveport successfully completed the race. In total, over 31,000 runners finished the race, and eleven of those started the journey in Shreveport-Bossier City. Local residents Shane Huff, Bill Peatross, Robert and Lisa Walter, Elizabeth and John Van Savage, Toni Bouso, Tomi Swaim, Angel Turnbow, Steven Mikovich, and Lee Stevens all finished the race much faster than the average times of their respected age groups. Huff, the fastest of the Shreveport bunch, finished in a blazing 3 hours, 12 minutes and 36 seconds.  This was a full hour faster than the average runner and would be the equivalent of running 26 consecutive 7-minute miles. Louisiana had a total of 77 finishers, and Huff finished in the top 10 among them. The fastest 2014 Boston Marathon time by a Louisiana resident was 2 hours, 43 minutes, and 18 seconds, run by Jonathan Thomas of Baton Rouge. Here are the official times for our area runners:
