SHREVEPORT, March 21, 2018-
A Houston, Texas man has pled guilty in a Caddo Courtroom this week to home invasion, second-degree kidnapping, and attempted aggravated rape.
These charges stemmed from a 2014 incident in which the man, 33-year-old Jesus Martinez, followed a woman home from a downtown Shreveport nightclub, broke into her apartment, and tried to rape her.
The Caddo District Attorney’s office said that DNA evidence played a major role in bringing Martinez to justice. Martinez will be back in court to face sentencing on June 28, 2018.
According to the District Attorney’s office:
“Martinez faces 10 to 50 years in prison for the attempted aggravated rape, five to 40 years in prison for the second-degree kidnapping and one to 30 years for the home invasion. At least two years of the kidnapping sentence must be without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence, and all of the sentence imposed for the attempted aggravated rape must be without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.”
Jesus Martinez also has a previous conviction for oral sexual battery from a 2004 case.
