If you are in the Shreveport Bossier area and looking for employment, you might want to consider the Shreveport Police Department. The department is gearing up for their class 79 selection process. Class 78 is set to begin on February 16, 2018.

All applicants must also take the civil service test. The next test date is April 19, 2018.

Some of the other requirements include: a passing medical and physical ability test, a high school diploma or a GED, and must be at least 21 years of age. Applicants must also have a valid drivers license, and not have any felony convictions.

All applications are due March 23, 2018.

Starting salary for police officers while in the academy is $2,179. After graduation, that increases to $2,750 per month, and officers receive an additional $500 a year in state supplemental pay after one year.

According to Indeed.com, the average police officer in Louisiana makes $36,885. That is less than the national average of $45,729.
