John Bel Edwards was in Bossier on Thursday, December 7th, 2017 to sign his new executive order regarding cybersecurity in Louisiana. The Governor spoke at Parkway High School before signing the order. The Parkway High School Band performed Christmas songs and the National Anthem before the Governor spoke.
The executive order establishes the statewide cybersecurity commission. This executive order comes a little more than a week after Congressman Mike Johnson’s cyber warfare amendment became part of the National Defense Authorization Act. The Governor hopes that by establishing the commission, companies will be enticed to bring their cyber-based business to the state.
“I have established the Louisiana Cybersecurity Commission because we must continue our commitment to establishing cybersecurity capabilities and resources in order to adequately maintain the stability of public services while ensuring proper privacy and protection for the data that is entrusted to the State of Louisiana by our citizens,” said Gov. Edwards during the event.
