Herman Woods, 50, of the 700 block of Austin Place, has been chared by Shreveport Police detectives with Second Degree Murder in connection to a shooting last night on the 200 block of Vine Street.
According to a Shreveport Police Department press release, on Thursday, May 3, 2018, patrol officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Street to investigate a reported shooting. When they arrived, the officers found a deceased man lying in a grassy area with several gunshot wounds to his torso.
Witnesses told the officers that the victim had been in a verbal altercation with another unidentified man, who shot the victim and fled on foot afterward.
Thanks to the description of the perpetrator given to the detectives by the witnesses, Shreveport Police units arrested a man matching the description of the shooter, a few hours later in the 1000 block of Louisiana Avenue. The man, Herman Woods, was taken into custody, and after being interviewed by detectives was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder.
