For this week only, the Caddo Parish Animal Shelter (CPAS) has decided to lower the cost of their microchipping service. CPAS will offer this service for $5 from 11/7-11/9. The shelter is open form 10AM to 5PM and is located at 1500 Monty St, Shreveport, LA 71107.

If you aren’t familiar with microchips, they are a form of identification that is implanted under your pet’s skin. The microchip is normally the size of a large grain of rice. It uses RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology that stores information about your pet and your contact information.

When a lost pet is found and taken to a shelter or veterinarians office, the staff can scan the animal for a microchip. If they find one, they are able to collect the information stored on it and reunite you with your animal.

The CPAS microchip program is open to all Caddo Parish residents. CPAS also offers microchipping year-round for $15.
