After a weeklong investigation, Shreveport Police Detectives have taken a woman into custody on suspicion of child abuse.

According to the press release from Shreveport Police:

On July 2017, Shreveport Police received reports of two small children wandering the intersection of Hollywood Avenue and West Canal Boulevard. Officers made contact with the children’s guardian, Clyderta Thomas, 25, of the 6800 block of Antioch, and arrested her on allegations of child desertion.

After Thomas’s initial arrests the Department of Child and Family Services removed four children from the home. On September 17, 2017, DCFS contacted Shreveport Police Youth Service Investigators and advised them that all four children tested positive for high levels of cocaine. Investigators launched their investigation resulting in the procurement of four warrants for Thomas’s arrest charging her with four count of Cruelty to a Juvenile.

Thomas was taken into custody on September 26, 2017 and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on her warrants. The warrants were no bond warrants.
