On December 5th, 2017, a Caddo Parish jury found Christopher Lee Weston guilty of second-degree murder. According to the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office, on May 8th, 2016, Weston shot and wounded Lakordo Jamerson in a drive-by shooting. The incident occurred on Queens Highway.
According to the press release, on May 8th, 2016, Jamerson and a group of friends were involved in an altercation with Weston. The altercation was started when Weston accused Jamerson of picking up a cigarette he had dropped. Jamerson denied taking the cigarette but attempted to keep the peace by offering Weston one of his. After the altercation at the store, Weston followed Jamerson back to his neighborhood and shot him from a vehicle.
Jamerson was struck in the arm and back during the attack. Although there were other people home at the time, including children, Jamerson was the only victim.
It only took the jury an hour to deliberate and hand out a guilty verdict. Weston will be back in court on December 14th in front of Judge Dorroh to face sentencing. According to the Caddo D.A., Weston faces up to a 50 year prison sentence for attempted murder. That sentence may be increased due to Weston’s previous convictions which makes him a habitual offender.
