Rockers Rescue of Northwest Louisiana, a local foster-based animal rescue, is holding a fundraising event at G-Rock Climbing this Saturday, March 17 from 7-9 pm. The cost to climb is $20, which includes rental shoes and equipment, and proceeds will be going directly to the animal rescue.

“We are excited to have a fun, different way to raise money for our animals as we are an entirely donation-based nonprofit and rely on events like these and generous donations for our cause,” said Rockers Rescue founder Megan DeMoss.

Rockers Rescue is known for hosting unique and fun events in order to raise money. They recently had their first ever “Senior Dog” yoga class, and last fall the rescue also hosted a “Kitten” yoga class.

“It’s a great way for our animals to meet potential adopters, raise donations, and have fun,” DeMoss said.

DeMoss explains that all proceeds that Rockers Rescue earns from this and other events go directly to the care of the animals under Rockers Rescue, who often require extensive medical treatment, special diets, and extra care due to illness or age.

Currently under the rescue are three senior dogs and a pregnant cat, so clearly their mission is not slowing down anytime soon.

If you are interested in joining Rockers Rescue for rock climbing tomorrow, you can pay ahead of time or at the door. There is also a waiver to submit before climbing that can be completed online or at the door. You can also check out their Facebook event page for more information.

G-Rock Climbing is located at 731 American Way, Shreveport inside the Shreveport Indoor Soccer center. Climbers of all levels – including beginners – are welcome and encouraged to attend.
