Now in its fourth year as an annual event, Cirque Du Lake is back and bigger than ever. After adding 4 new businesses this year alone to what is quickly becoming the creative class core of downtown Shreveport, the Lake Street Design District now boasts 10 businesses concentrated in the 400 block of Lake Street at the southern edge of downtown Shreveport.

The 4th Annual Cirque du Lake Street Festival, will be held Friday, Sept. 29 in the 400 block of Lake Street from 5-9 p.m. The event is hosted by 10 locally owned businesses in the Lake Street Design District which are; The Agora Borealis, iArchitecture; Vintage Design Group, LLC; Good Granoly; Digital Logic; Definition Industries Inc; Sweetport; Rydaz Bar, Eatery & Events and Silver Lake Ballroom.

Admission is free and all ages are welcome to attend this family-friendly street festival. Pets on leashes are welcome.

When Katy Larsen first opened The Agora Borealis four years ago, she wanted to create a store where local artists could sell their creations. Katy moved here with her husband who is a Shreveport native and found a nice storefront on Lake Street, right in the heart of downtown Shreveport. After the first year, business was up, and to say thank you to her customers, Katy organized a small block part in front of the shop.

The design block of Lake Street is home to ten locally owned business, and Katy hopes to draw more attention to this thriving sector of downtown. “Cirque du lake is not only a celebration of the progress our businesses on Lake Street have made, but also the progress of downtown Shreveport, it’s transformation and where it is headed.”

Four years later the small block party, Cirque du Lake, has grown into a full-blown festival. Designed to mimic the essence of a French market, Cirque du Lake brings street vendors, entertainers, and artists who all collaborate to put on the festival. Last year, Cirque du Lake was attended by over 1,000 people. This year, Katy is hoping for more. Local artists will be displaying their art, and the storefronts will be open for the public to meet and greet the businesses owners. A tarot card reading, live blacksmith demonstration, and even a longhorn steer will also be there as well.
