Over a year after the crime occurred, Shreveport Police Detectives believe they have captured the man responsible for a rape that occurred in September of last year. 37-year-old Roy Jackson is being held on a 2nd Degree Rape charge.

From Shreveport Police:

Shreveport Police Sex Crimes Investigators have a man in custody that they believed raped a juvenile back in September of 2016.

On September 13, 2016, Shreveport Police responded to a local hospital and made contact with a juvenile victim who advised that they had been held down and raped by an offender whose name was not known.

Investigators responded to the scene and collected evidence. Through the course of the investigation, investigators developed Roy Jackson, 37, of the 3000 block of Dallas Street, as the alleged suspect. DNA evidence was submitted to the North Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory and compared to the DNA profile of Roy Jackson. The Crime Lab did match the DNA evidence from the victim to Jackson.

Investigators procured a warrant charging Jackson with one count of 2nd Degree Rape. Bond was set at $175,000.00. Investigators and patrol officers took Jackson into custody at his residence and booked him into the Shreveport City Jail.
