Several thousand Swepco customers are without power this afternoon after a massive power outage struck in central Shreveport.
According to the Swepco website, over 4,000 customers are currently without power.
According to Swepco, the outage is the result of an anomaly that took place in one of their power stations. The SWEPCO representative compared the anomaly to a “tripped breaker.”
While SWEPCO is cautious about giving an exact time, they estimate power will be restored at approximately 6:30 pm this evening.
“Our technicians are working as swiftly as they can,” The representative said. Taking the necessary steps to protect not only the public but also utility workers from hazards is their first step.
