This story has the unsettling details of an eerie murder mystery:

Human remains found in Cross Lake near the I-220 bridge have been tentatively identified by the Caddo Parish coroner as those of a missing Texas man, and other remains found in Texas – and badly burned – may likely be the rest of the same victim.

According to The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, evidence from the investigation suggest that, after the man was killed somewhere around southeast Fort Worth, part of the body was burned in Texas and the rest driven to and dumped into Cross Lake, where it was found near the Cross Lake Bridge on Sunday.

Police say fingerprints have confirmed that the body is that of Marion Lee Brown of Weatherford, TX. Part of the Brown’s body was found on Friday wrapped in smoldering carpet about 100 west of Shreveport on Smith County (TX) Road 371. Sources have told us that there were signs of blunt-force trauma to the victims head.

No suspects were in custody as of Wednesday.  As this story develops, we will update this post.
