Ah, summer.  The heat is on, the kids are bored at home, and sometimes you just need a little break.  For a lot of us, our busy schedules won’t allow a week-long trip to the beach. But that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a moment of relaxation outside of our busy lives.  So pack light, fill up the gas tank, and hit the road! All of these places are under 3 hours from Shreveport:

 

1. Broken Bow, OK

Drive time: 2 hours 30 minutes.
Go here for: Scenery, clear water, trout fishing, water sports, golf, camping

 

2. Hot Springs

Drive time: 3 hours
Go here for: Hot Springs Mountain, Bathhouse Row, spas and resorts.

 

 

3.  Albert Pike Recreational Area – Langley, AR

Go here for: Camping, fishing streams, canoeing, rock climbing, hiking.

 

4. Vicksburg, MS

Drive time: 2 hours, 37 min
Go here for: USS Cairo Museum, Military Park, Riverboat casinos, Anchuca Mansion, and other Antebellum home tours.

 

5. The Piney Woods Wine Trail

Drive Time: Most are within 2 hours of Shreveport.

6.  Poverty Point, Louisiana

Drive Time: 2 hours, 15 min
Go here for: Historic sight-seeing, fishing, and golf at beautiful Black Bear, Louisiana’s best public golf course.
