SHREVEPORT-

Shreveport Police say they have captured a man they suspect of robbing several women with a baseball bat. According to police, Mario Roberson, 32-years-old, has been charged with a number of robberies.

The police say that Roberson targeted women in specific.

Detectives interviewed Roberson on February 15, 2018, around 8 PM. During the interview, Roberson somehow escaped from police custody and made his way out of the police complex. Officers and detectives chased him and “a short time later” captured him in a field in 1700 block of Southern Avenue.

Once back in police custody, Roberson was charged with Simple Escape, Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, and Resisting by Flight. While he is still suspected of the robberies, police say the investigation is “still ongoing.”

Roberson was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
