Sir’detrick Lomone Samuels, 20, has been found guilty of Manslaughter after he fired a gun at three people in the Queensborough neighborhood of Shreveport in 2016, which resulted in the death of a 16 year old.

According to the Caddo District Attorney’s office, on November 8, 2016, Samuels got into an argument with someone outside of a house on Boss Avenue. The altercation turned violent when Samuels discharged his 9mm handgun at the three people standing outside of the house.

Samuels missed two of the people outside of the house, but his bullets struck Tremon Jackson, then 16 at the time, in the back and leg. Jackson laid bleeding to death in the driveway as family members attempted to care for him. The family members decided to drive him to University Health hospital, but their car stalled while en route. An ambulance crew arrived and transported Jackson the rest of the way, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Samuels was found guilty of manslaughter by a jury of his peers. The jury deliberated for just three hours before returning the verdict.

The Caddo DA’s office stated that Samuels faces up to 40 years in prison when he goes before the judge on May 14, 2018. They also plan to seek additional prison time for Samuels due to a previous violent felony conviction and the fact that he used a firearm during the crime.
